Barbara Lhota
Co-Producer, Co-writer, Costumes, PropsBarbara Lhota is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter who has written over 200 plays and has had over 55 productions. The Studio's production of her play, Third Person, was selected by the Boston Herald as one of the top ten plays of the 1993-94 season. She received her MFA in Dramatic Writing from Brandeis University, where she was

an artist-in-residence and taught playwriting. She currently lives in Chicago where she has had a wide variety of productions. In terms of film, Barbara has worked most frequently with freelance director Columbia College film professor, Carter Martin, on a film version of her most popular play Strangers. She co-wrote Power Singles with Janet Milstein for Matt Wechsler and Hourglass Films. Power Singles won awards for best director and was nominated for best screenplay. Power Singles was also runner up for best film of 2009. Her script Donuts is going into pre-production this fall with Hourglass Films. Mark Lynall
Director, Editor, Music Composer
Mark has been directing and composing music for film and television for over ten years. His career began in the U.K. where he gained high profile film and television commissions for short films. In 2000 he received the much coveted BBC Drama Award for Best New Director.
Since moving to the US in 2003 he has continued to direct and score for |
independent productions, the most recent of which is the film ‘Blindsided’.
Maiko Tomita
Assistant DirectorMaiko Tomita was born on the south side of Japan and then moved to Tokyo to attend Rikkyo University. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English and American Literature and earned a Master’s of Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago. She started creative writing when she was in high school and created over 170 stories before she entered Columbia College Chicago. She has won several writing competitions throughout her lifetime. Since the beginning of 2007 she has started producing and coordinating international shootings between the United States and Japan. She also has worked on countless productions of

various sizes and lengths as 1st AD. Currently she has started production designing and enjoys it a lot. So right now, she can cover producer (both creative & line), AD, Production Designer, Director, Writer, Still Photographer and Script Supervisor. Overall, she loves being on sets and mingling with other awesome filmmakers.
Peg Bang
Lighting Assistant
Peg is an inquisitive art geek at heart. During her childhood, her favorite toys included a chemistry set, a b/w video camera, any game console system. In her teens, her first camera was a manual SLR loaned to her for a documentary photography class and she studied figure drawing. Her first stint changing gels for lighting was as part of a dance scholarship program above a stage. As an

adult she has studied everything from trickle down technology in Costa Rica and the wine industry in Australia to lighting and lenses on set, for stage, and in digital. She learns everyday and loves to travel the world, capturing it frame by frame and always creating something to turn it into something else.
Ivan Rodriguez
Production AssistantIvan is studying to receive his Bachelors of Arts Degree at Columbia College, Chicago, IL. He has worked producing, directing, lighting, and editing small film/video projects for classes and for personal projects.
Besides college and film, Ivan keeps busy with his double life coaching and teaching competitive swimming in Naperville, IL. |
Exemption of Hunter Riley, My First Tooth, and Night of the Fireflies. As an actor, past credits include Romeo and Juliet, The Miser, and Stop Kiss. She is also an Artistic Associate with Babes With Blades and has been seen in their all-female cast of Macbeth.
Jay Burckhardt
Fight Arranger
Jay Burckhardt is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, a Stunt Coordinator and Fight Arranger for film, and owner of JKChoreography, a stunt company based out of Chicago. Coordinator for numerous award-winning independent films, Jay has worked with Columbia College Chicago, Depaul University, University of Illinois Chicago, and the Independent Film Board of Chicago in training up-and-coming filmmakers how to work with stunt coordinators and explaining the process of designing action sequences for film. Jay has also designed violence for the stage in theaters around Chicago, including Ravens Theater Company and
|
Griffin Theater Company. He has also directed live stunt shows for special red carpet events, and worked with motion capture studios designing violence for video games. Jay has taught at SAFD workshops (including the Winter Wonderland Workshop in Chicago), and the ZFX Fighting and Flying Workshop.

She now applies her fine arts training in her film work, and has had experience with screenwriting, directing, art direction, crew, and animation.
After graduating from The School of the Art Institute, Karelia will be heading home to spend time with family in New Zealand, where she plans to write and direct her first feature.

Rudy Segovia
Police Officer AdvisorRudy Segovia just retired after 30 years in the Chicago Police Dept. He has also worked in sales for 31 years. Rudy is so glad that he met Janet because he's learning a lot about the ins and outs of the industry. Right now, he has four projects: he is writing a screenplay, a sales book, working in a home-based business called Melaleuca and is a member of Toastmasters. Rudy has entered into several speaking competitions in Toastmasters and has won several trophies. Life is good….
